Filadelphia Latin American Film Festival Puts Latin American And Latino Film And Media Artists In Focus, April 27-28
Now in its second year, the Filadelfia Latin American Film Festival is the only annually presented film fest in the region to focus exclusively on the exhibition of Latin American and Latino film and media artists.
Take a siesta from the scores of spring festivals this weekend, and take in one of the screenings on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28.
Opening with the Sundance Film Festival World Cinema Jury Prize-winning biopic Violeta Went to Heaven, the festival goes on to present four Philadelphia premieres, filmmaker talk-backs, short films and a music-filled reception.
On Saturday, screenings take place at the International House of Philadelphia in University City throughout the day, with the first film at 1:30 p.m. and the last starting at 8:20 p.m. Come Sunday, the festival moves to the University of the Arts on Broad Street, with films starting at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
From the action-packed thriller 7 Cajas (7 Boxes) on Saturday to the emotional story of felon and Tony Award-winner Lemon Andersen, Lemon, on Sunday, the festival’s calendar includes a wide range of films that reveal the Latino and Latin-American experience.
